The Cheveaux laser works by emitting a long wavelength of focused light-energy. This energy is absorbed directly into the melanin inside the hair shaft. Your body hair goes through three phases: active growth, regression and resting. When the hair is treated during an active growth stage, the light-energy will cause a disabling of the hair re-growth mechanisms. In as little as a week after each treatment, the affected hair in their active growth stage will disappear. Each time, less hair will return. Over the course of five to six treatments you will achieve smoother skin and permanent hair reduction.

There is little pain and few side effects from this treatment. The feeling can be as little as a warming sensation to the feeling of a rubber band snapping the skin on more sensitive areas. The area treated will show some temporary redness and tenderness after treatment. Other than abstaining from artificial UVA and UVB light, you should be able to return to normal activities immediately.

Throughout the treatment, you should not pluck, tweeze, or wax any hairs in the area being treated. This will initiate a regrowth phase of the hair follicle and may require additional treatments to achieve desired results.
