What Is EMsculpt® Technology?

EMsculpt uses HIFEM®, which is High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic energy to induce intense muscle contractions. This energy triggers the supramaximal muscles to contract in a way that goes far beyond what regular exercise can achieve. During treatment, these electromagnetic energy pulses cause the muscles to thicken and strengthen, remodeling the abdomen, thighs, or buttocks to reveal a sculpted, firm core. Dr. Mess also offers an advanced contour applicator designed for smaller areas – allowing EMsculpt to tone upper arms and deliver improved muscle definition for calves.

What to Expect During Your EMsculpt® Treatment

An EMsculpt treatment creates a series of muscle contractions in the abdomen, buttocks, or thighs to disrupt unwanted fat cells and build muscle. This treatment is performed in the office and doesn’t require any anesthesia or numbing agents. Instead, you are awake throughout the entire session and resting comfortably on either your stomach or back (depending on the treatment area).

To begin, your experienced technician will attach one or more EMsculpt panels to the targeted area. From here, varying patterns of the High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic energy are delivered through the panels, causing rapid muscle contractions. Your muscles will contract around 20,000 times per treatment session!

Each session takes roughly  30 minutes to complete, and you will definitely feel the treatment working. For optimal results, it is recommended that patients undergo at least four sessions spaced two to three days apart.

Preparing for Your EMsculpt® Treatment

EMsculpt is a fast, easy, and non-invasive treatment that requires no advanced preparation or post-treatment care.

There is no downtime associated with the treatment, and you can return to your normal day-to-day activities immediately following EMsculpt. EMsculpt® Results

While a small number of EMsculpt patients reported seeing results after two weeks, most start to see their results at the four to six week mark.1

The average increase in muscle after EMsculpt was a 15% increase in the thickness of the abdominal wall, while patients reported a loss of 1.7 inches on average in waist size reduction three months following abdominal treatments.2,3

Am I A Candidate For EMsculpt®?

EMsculpt is a non-invasive body contouring procedure that can benefit men and women. Candidates are physically healthy and in good shape, but have difficulty removing those final few pounds or developing significant muscle definition.
Ideal candidates are those who are looking for:

  • Non-surgical body contouring
  • Muscle enhancement in the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, calves, and arms
  • Improvement of diastasis recti (abdominal muscle separation that occurs after pregnancy)
  • CoolSculpting patients looking for maximum results with added muscle definition

Patients who have a significant amount of fat or those who are pregnant or nursing are not candidates for this procedure. During your consultation, Dr. Mess can help determine if EMsculpt can benefit you.
