ScitonⓇ MOXI™ Laser Skin Rejuvenation in Baltimore
For our active patients who are beginning to notice signs of sun damage, Dr. Sarah Mess and our team of skilled practitioners serving DMV, are pleased to offer non-surgical treatment with the revolutionary Sciton MOXI laser skin rejuvenation system. After only a 30 minute treatment with little to no downtime, our patients are noticing amazing results with a more even skin tone, better texture, and reduced pigmentation.
What is Sciton MOXI?
MOXI, by the skin resurfacing experts at Sciton, is a non-ablative fractional laser. By converting electrical energy into light, MOXI performs controlled damage to pigmented or damaged cells. The body’s natural healing process then works to remove these damaged cells and replace them with fresh cells.
MOXI is an incredibly gentle fractional laser, which makes it ideal for treating mild to moderate cases of uneven pigmentation, light sun damage, and uneven tone and texture. MOXI is also great for “prejevnation,” or pre-emptively treating visible signs of aging before they even appear, or for extending the results of more aggressive laser or light treatments.1
Benefits of Treatment with MOXI
MOXI is gentle enough to treat all skin types, and is ideal for treating early signs of skin aging or sun damage like:
- Uneven pigmentation
- Uneven tone
- Uneven texture
- Light sun damage
- Light skin aging
Some of the other things our patients love about treatment with MOXI is that:
- It can be performed during a lunch break
- There is little to no downtime
- It’s great for maintaining results in between more aggressive treatments
- Treatment is comfortable and rarely requires numbing cream
Who is a Candidate for Treatment with MOXI?
The ideal candidate for treatment with MOXI is a man or woman who has noticed early signs of aging or sun damage to their skin. MOXI is suitable for use on any skin type, and multiple energy settings mean that treatment can be fully customized to meet each patient’s needs.
The MOXI Procedure
Treatment with MOXI takes as little as 30 minutes, and is performed by an aesthetic specialist in the comfort of Dr. Mess’ Columbia office, conveniently located between Baltimore and Washington, DC.
Before treatment, the skin is thoroughly cleansed, and a small amount of numbing cream is applied prior to treatment with MOXI. The treatment is very tolerable and some patients even elect to forego numbing cream all together.
Patients are fitted with goggles to protect them from the light of the MOXI laser. Next, an aesthetic practitioner gently rolls the delivery tip of the device over the skin of the face, neck, chest, and other areas to be treated, paying special attention to areas where pigmentation and early signs of aging need to be addressed. Following treatment, the specialist applies a topical treatment to help protect the skin and promote optimal healing.
Recovery after MOXI Laser Skin Rejuvenation
Ater treatment with MOXI, patients can expect their skin to be slightly pink, and it will feel a bit tingly for a few hours. Cool air usually helps patients feel more comfortable immediately after treatment. We recommend that patients wait until the day after treatment to resume their normal skincare routines or to apply makeup.
Over the first few days after MOXI treatment, damaged skin will begin to slough off to reveal fresh, glowing skin. Most patients begin to notice the results of their MOXI treatment within 3-5 days, and ideal results are realized after 3 or 4 treatment sessions. Many of our patients also like to come in for regular maintenance treatments every few months.
