Most people should cleanse their skin twice a day. For others, once a day is sufficient. There are a host of facial cleansers available today from our medical grade cosmetic offerings to products you will find on the aisle of the grocery store or Target. Whatever you chose find a cleanser that you like that is free of dyes, alcohol, and harsh soaps. Dampen your face and apply cleanser with your hands instead of a washcloth. Very cold or hot water can leave the skin irritated and promote broken capillaries, so use warm water for best results. Don’t try to strip all the oil from your face. Natural skin oils are essential for healthy skin. Your cleanser should be effective but gentle.
Skin care should provide more than clean, moisturized skin. Today’s age defense products include Retinols, antioxidants, eye repair and specialty products such as SkinMedica’s TNS Essential Serum and Lytera. These products are some of the most active and beneficial skin care available. Together they work to remove the dead outer layer of skin and encourage skin rejuvenation on a cellular level. Age Defense products can encourage collagen production and improve skin texture and elasticity leaving you with healthy beautiful skin.
Moisturizing is an essential part of your skin care regimen. Even patients with oily complexions tend to benefit from a moisturizer, and there are a wide range of moisturizers to choose from. Dr. Mess can work with you to determine the best moisturize for your skin care regimen.
Sun exposure can damage your skin, lead to premature aging, wrinkles and sun spots. The good news is that there are a wide selection of sunscreens available as part of any skin care regimen. These sunscreens are effective and can be used everyday even on sensitive skin. Applying SPF 30 or above sunscreen will not only help your skin look younger, it will help decrease your risk of developing skin cancer.
Dr. Mess offers SkinMedica, Illumize and Rejuvenize chemical peels as well as Glycolic and TCA peels. Pairing these peels with a TNS Essential Regimen or Lytera Corrective Complex Regimen provides outstanding results without the downtime of more invasive procedures. Chemical Peels are a natural companion to most skin care regimens.
